Error description

  • A Client Management Server (CMS) query on a task id which does
    not exist like this one :
    https://<CMS server
    name>:9028/tsmcms/backupSystems/<nodename>/tasks/<taskid>
    Will produce the browser message '500 Internal Server error'
    instead of the expected '404 Not Found'.
    in the cms server console.log, the following will be seen :
    [ERROR   ] An unhandled exception occurred which will be
               propagated to the container.
    [ERROR   ] SRVE0777E: Exception thrown by application class
       'com.ibm.cms.services.task.manager.TaskManager.getTask:131'
    java.lang.NullPointerException
        at ...
    [ERROR   ] SRVE0315E: An exception occurred:
        java.lang.Throwable: java.lang.NullPointerException
        at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebApp.handleRequest
           (WebApp.java:5027)
        at [internal classes]
    Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException
        at com.ibm.cms.services.task.manager.TaskManager.getTask
           (TaskManager.java:131)
    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect Client Management Server 7.1.x and 8.1.x
    on all supported platforms
