APAR status

Error description

  • LDAP is being used as the store of user/group information,
    configured via an AUTHINFO object.

In this configuration, when a new user connects to the queue
manager, a small record in MQ's shared memory is leaked.

It is possible that this memory leak is so small it will remain
    undetected.

    USERS AFFECTED:
Queue managers where an AUTHINFO object is used to cause the
queue manager OAM to look up user and group membership
    relationships from an LDAP repository.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
LDAP is being used as the store of user/group information,
    configured via an AUTHINFO object.

In this configuration, when a new user connects to the queue
manager, the queue manager's OAM stores a small record in shared
memory to enable quick lookup of the same user again the next
    time it is needed.

However, the lookup mechanism does not work properly, and the
small record in shared memory is leaked, leading to growth in
    MQ's shared memory usage.

The leak happens during the connect processing for a user that
has not been seen before. The amount of memory is so small (a
few 10s of bytes each time) that it will probably remain
    undetected.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ code has been fixed to avoid the leak and ensure the
    lookup mechanism works.
