Error description

  • When performing a fileset snapshot based backups of IBM Spectrum
    Scale
using "mmbackup", as in the following example command:

    /usr/lpp/mmfs/bin/mmbackup /fs1/fileset_name -S
    mm_backup_snapshot_fileset_name --tsm-servers sp201 --scope
    inodespace -N ces --backup-threads 7 --max-backup-size 1048576
    --max-backup-count 65000 --expire-threads 7 --max-expire-count
    65000 -a
    10 --noquote

As can be seen, mmbackup is invoked on fileset
/fs1/fileset_name and not on filesystem /fs1.

Now suppose there is a file with a special character "file?.txt"
    within that
    fileset:

    /fs1/fileset_name/file?.txt

During backup, the error will be seen:

ANS4005E Error processing '/fs1/file?.txt': file not found

    Instead of:

    ANS4005E Error processing '/fs1/fileset_name/file?.txt': file
    not found

Despite the above incorrect path being displayed, the actual
expected filepath will correctly be stored on the IBM Spectrum
    Protect server :

    dsmc query backup /fs1/fileset_name/file?.txt

Problem conclusion

  • The problem occurs if performing selective or incremental GPFS
fileset snapshot backup using -filelist and -snapshotroot
    options from command line.
If the filelist contains files which can not be backed up for
any reason, the wrong path is displayed.
After the fix, the correct path will be displayed.

Temporary fix
