Error description
If a corrupted file is encountered during a backup it may cause the backup to stop instead of skipping the file and continuing. The messages seen in dsmerror.log are: ANS9999E ..\..\common\winnt\ntrc.cpp(767): Received Win32 RC 1359 (0x0000054f) from FileOpen(): CreateFile. Error description:An internal error occurred . ANS1999E Incremental processing of '\\uncname\x$' stopped. Tivoli Storage Manager / IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: Client V6.3.x, V6.4.x, V7.1.x and V8.1.x on Windows platforms. Customer/L2 Diagnostics: - A client trace taken with "service" flag will allow to identify the file like in the below extract: \common\fio\ntfileio.cpp(7994): FileOpen(\\uncname\x$\path\filename.xxx): Entry. \common\fio\ntfileio.cpp(8086): FileOpen(): Opening '\\uncname\x$\path\filename.xxx' \common\winnt\ntrc.cpp( 732): TransWin32RC(): Translated Win32 RC 1359 (0x0000054f) from FileOpen(): CreateFile to TSM RC 131 \common\ut\GlobalRC.cpp( 428): msgNum = 9999 changed the Global RC. - Exclude the affected file from the backup - Contact the system administrator to take action to correct the affected file(s)

Problem conclusion
The client has been fixed so the Windows return code 1359 (ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR) will be mapped to RC_ACCESS_DENIED. So, the error message is logged for the file, and the backup continues with the next object.
