APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • This problem can be seen in two different ways.
1 - If secure boot is enabled at the time of install, the
install will fail with:
"A digitally signed driver is required"
2 - If secure boot is enabled after the install for IBM Spectrum
Protect for Workstations, the IBM
Spectrum Protect for Workstations services will fail to start
after reboot and the user is unable to use the web UI.
The Windows event logs will show an Event ID 6000
FBW6000E FilePath ERROR PF_OpenDriver \\.\FpDriver Win32 Error:2
Read Only Result 2 No Access Result:2 usernamesupport.
Initial Impact: High
Versions affected: 8.1

Local fix

  • Disable secure boot.

Problem conclusion

  • Microsoft Extended Validation certification has been implemented
in IBM Spectrum Protect for Workstations. Windows Secure Boot
warning message is no longer displayed during installation and
the product is completely installed.
