Error description

  • The IBM MQ Classes for Java API specifies that exceptions are
thrown back to the calling application when certain events
    occur.

For example, if an application requests a message from a queue,
and there are no messages on the queue using the API call:

    com.ibm.mq.MQDestination.get( com.ibm.mq.MQMessage,
                                  com.ibm.mq.MQGetMessageOptions );

then it would be expected that the following MQRC 2033
('MQRC_NO_MSG_AVAILABLE') exception was thrown back to the
    application:

    ERROR, exception thrown: com.ibm.mq.MQException: MQJE001:
    Completion Code '2', Reason '2033'.
    com.ibm.mq.MQException: MQJE001: Completion Code '2', Reason
    '2033'.
      at com.ibm.mq.MQDestination.getInt(MQDestination.java:673)
      at com.ibm.mq.MQDestination.get(MQDestination.java:448)
      at MyApplication.MyMethod(MyApplication.java:98)

These exceptions are not displayed in IBM MQ classes for Java
trace, which can add time to diagnosing problems when analysing
trace from applications using this API.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of the IBM MQ classes for Java API who have collected
trace as the request of IBM Support, and submitted it for
    analysis.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The IBM MQ classes for Java API trace did not display the
exceptions which were being thrown back to the calling
application. This increased the difficulty in analysing IBM MQ
    classes for Java trace.

Problem conclusion

  • Exception printing has been added to IBM MQ classes for Java
    trace, to the API classes:

      com.ibm.mq.MQQueueManager
      com.ibm.mq.MQDestination
      com.ibm.mq.MQManagedObject
