Error description

  • An application running on an IBM MQ Client 'WebSphere MQ for
Linux (x86-64 platform) Version 7.5.0.x' connects to a queue
manager running on 'MQ for AIX Version 8.0.0.x'. It puts a
message onto a queue. A subsequent get of the same message from
the queue with the option "convert" and encoding set to 546 does
not work as expected. The encoding in the MQMD is set to 273
    instead of the expected 546.

The same scenario was working when the queue manager was running
on MQ for AIX Version 7.5. In this case the
encoding in the MQMD remained as 546.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users using pre-MQ 8.0 clients which get messages from MQ 8.0
    and/or 9.0 queue managers.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
This problem occurred due to a logic error which meant that the
encoding was not correctly set for non-UCS2 messages as the
encoding of the data is of no consequence except for UCS2
    messages.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ queue manager logic has been modified to correctly set
    the encoding.
