Error description

  • After configuring the MQ extended transaction client with the
TXSeries region, XAOPEN call failed with XAER_RMERR '-3'
during the process of TXSeries region start.
The MQ trace shows that MQ attempt to load libEncServer.so
from dir "/opt/encina/lib/" however the library is present in
the path /opt/ibm/cics/lib , and hence getting ErrorNumber(2)
meaning ENOENT file "NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY."

Local fix

  • Copy or link the MQ library "libEncServer.so" from
    "/opt/ibm/cics/lib/" to "/opt/encina/lib/"

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All MQ users who configure IBM MQ v8 or v9 with IBM TXseries
(extended transaction client) installed in /opt/ibm/cics/lib/
    will be affected.

    Platforms affected:
Linux on S390, Linux on x86, Linux on x86-64, Linux on zSeries,
    Solaris SPARC, Solaris x86-64

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When using MQ with CICS TXseries for transaction coordination on
Linux or Solaris, MQ attempts to load the CICS XA switchload
    file - libEncServer.so - from /opt/encina/lib/. If using a
TXseries version which is installed in /opt/ibm/cics/lib/, this
    operation failed.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ client's XA open logic on Linux and Solaris platforms has
been modified to additionally attempt to load libEncServer.so
from /opt/ibm/cics/lib if the library is not present in
    /opt/encina/lib/.
