APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When performing a quiesce shutdown, the queue manager does not
    end.
    A failure data capture (FDC) record reporting
    xecL_W_LONG_LOCK_WAIT is seen for the amqfqpub process.
    This issue is only seen when stopping the queue manager
    immediately after it has started.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    A small timing window existed during the shutdown process which
    could cause a deadlock which meant the queue manager could hang
    if a broker was started at the same time. This problem has not
    been experienced by customers but was produced during internal
    testing.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ code has been updated to prevent the deadlock.
