Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: This issue affects users of IBM MQ version 8, running MQ applications under a user ID which does not have write access to the MQ error log (AMQERR0*.LOG) within its MQ installation. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A coding error within the MQ common services routines used by MQ client applications meant that a failure to open the MQ error log file was not correctly handled, and subsequent additional operations were attempted on the file, resulting in the bad file descriptor error and FDC record.
Problem conclusion
The MQ common services routines have been updated to correctly handle a failure to open the MQ error log due to a permissions error, and request that the message be logged by and MQ process with appropriate permissions on the MQ error log. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v8.0 8.0.0.6 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
