APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Heap corrupted exception is thrown when creating a connection
using UserId and password in XMS.NET, when using bindings and
    unmanaged as the connection mode.

Local fix

  • NA

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All XMS.NET applications using UserId and Password while
creating a connection and using Unmanaged and Bindings as the
    connection mode

    Platforms affected:
    Windows

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If UserId and Password were passed while creating a connection
using XMS.NET, the application ended abruptly because of Heap
Corrupted Exception. This happened only while using Unmanaged and
    Bindings as the connection mode.

A logic error while handling the UserID and Password structures
caused a block of memory to be freed twice, resulting in the
    Heap Corrupted Exception.

Problem conclusion

  • The XMS.NET classes have been updated to avoid freeing this
    memory twice.
