Error description
The logical volume manager (lvm) commands on Linux may hang for a variety of reasons, e.g. if a disk is suspended, recreatable by running "dmsetup suspend diskname" command. One of the commands that may hang is the "lvm pvs" command. When a Storage Resource agent is deployed on a Linux host, it invokes several Linux commands, including "lvm pvs." When this happens, the Storage Resource agent probe will hang at the point that the lvm command did. On the IBM Spectrum Control web UI, the Storage Resource agent probe will remain in "In Progress" state and doesn't give any indication that the probe has hung.

Comments
IBM Spectrum Control and the Storage Resource agent (SRA) cannot fix the cause of the "lvm pvs" hanging situation. To verify that this is the situation causing the hang, view the SRA trace log on the SRA Deployment and verify that the last command was an LVM one. To recover from this: - Kill the hung SRA process - Kill the hung LVM command - From a command line, retry the LVM command and verify that it runs successfully. If it does not, use the LVM documentation to repair the LVM so that it does. - Restart the SRA
