Error description
Documentation needs to be added for return code -99. Return code -99 for message ANR2579E is a special return code that means the session between the client and the server was severed for some unknown reason. It is unknown if the client will be able to reconnect to the server to finish the schedules event. Use the QUERY EVENT command to determine the final event status. Tivoli Storage Manager/IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: All supported Customer Diagnostics: Review the activity log to verify the ANR2579E message also has a corresponding 'ANR0480W Session xxx for node_name terminated - connection with client severed' for the same session number. Client error log may have the following messages: sessSendVerb: Error sending Verb, rc: -50 ANS1809W A session with the TSM server has been disconnected. An attempt will be made to reestablish the connection. Client schedule log may have message: ANS1809W A session with the TSM server has been disconnected. Problem conclusion
In the Administrator's Reference, in the QUERY EVENT (Display client schedules) command, the description of the Result field was updated to include return code -99: "Result Specifies the return code that indicates whether the schedule processed successfully. If the return code is a value other than 0, examine the server activity log and the client's error log and schedule log. Return code Explanation -99 The operation failed because the session between the client and the server ended for an unknown reason. It is unknown whether the client can reconnect to the server to complete the schedule event." In server message ANR2579E, the explanation and user response sections were updated to include the return codes: "Explanation The client reported a failure to complete a scheduled action, or return code -99 was reported by the server. One of the following return codes is displayed: 0 All operations were completed successfully. 4 The operation was completed, but some files were not processed. 8 The operation was completed with at least one warning message. 12 The operation was completed with at least one error message. The count of error messages does not include notifications about skipped files. -99 The operation failed because the session between the client and the server ended for an unknown reason. It is unknown whether the client can reconnect to the server to complete the scheduled event. System action Server operation continues. User response Examine the node's schedule log to determine the cause of the failure. To determine the final status of the scheduled event, issue the QUERY EVENT command."
