Error description

  • VMware guests with multiple virtual disks spanning two or more
different datastores cannot be restored as expected.
All the guest virtual disks will be restored on the datastore
where the guest configuration file '<vmname>.vmx' is restored
according to the original location references or on the
datastore specified with the '-datastore' option in the
    'restore VM' command.
Most of the time this behaviour will go unnoticed if the
datastore is large enough and the virtual disk files location
is not checked after the restore.
If the target datastore is too small to hold the entire VMware
guest, the following message will be seen in the client
    dsmerror.log :

ANS9365E VMware vStorage API error for virtual machine
    'vmname'.

restored to the same configuration it had when it was backed
up. IBM Tivoli Storage Manager will reconfigure the virtual
machine to include only the most essential configuration in
formation and retry the restore operation.
