Error description
Depending on the length of queue manager names being used, creation of high availability (HA) queue managers can fail. The output from the crtmqm command indicates that "Setup completed", but subsequently begins the removal of the HA configuration. The following line is seen by the user: Removing high availability configuration on this appliance.
Local fix
Do not exceed 12 queue managers for the high availability configuration
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: User of the IBM MQ Appliance M2000 that are creating multiple high availability queue managers on a single pair of appliances in a High Availability Group Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The problem was caused by the size of the configuration data that was produced for high availability queue managers. Depending on the length of the queue manager names in use, internal processing could fail. This introduced a restriction as to the number of queue managers that could be created (crtmqm) and manipulated by other commands
Problem conclusion
The IBM MQ Appliance firmware has been changed so that the size of the configuration data is no longer an issue There are still limitations on the actual number of queue managers that can be created based on the individual queue manager file system sizes used. Users should be aware that once the solution is applied, no attempt should be made to perform an 'upgrade' to an earlier maintenance level. As documented in the Knowledge Center, it is not possible to perform a firmware switch on an appliance in a High Availability group. See http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS5K6E_1.0.0/com.ibm. mqa.doc/upgrading/up00004_.htm) --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v8.0 8.0.0.5 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
