Error description

  • While running dmqmqcfg, if it requests the security policies, a
memory corruption occurs that leads to the abnormal termination
of the command server process (amqpcsea) and the subsequent
errors reported by the other queue manager processes.
The FDCs generated as a result are similar to the following:

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users running MQ applications which inquires policies set on a
queue using PCF or MQSC commands, and have more than 1024
    security policies defined.

This problem can also manifest as unexpected large return code
values when running dspmqspl to display security policies when
the queue manager has more than 1024 security policies defined.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A buffer used internally within the queue manager when
responding to a policy inquire request was not sized
appropriately to handle scenarios when a large number of
policies (more than 1024) were defined to the queue manager.
This could lead to memory areas within the queue manager
    processes being incorrectly overwritten.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem has been addressed by correcting the size
calculation used to allocate the buffer when the queue manager
responds to an inquire request for security policies.
