Error description
When Tivoli Storage Manager/Spectrum Protect Data Protection for Hyper-V is used to restore the first incremental backup of a guest after resizing one or more virtual hard disks of the guest the disks are restored with the size recorded in the previous backup instead of the correct size. The restore will be marked as successful without any errors. All virtual hard disk restores from the second backup and subsequent backups after resizing one or more virtual hard disks and after resizing the virtual hard disks will restore with the correct size.
Local fix
None. A workaround is available. Use the Tivoli Storage Manager/Spectrum Protect Recovery Agent to mount the disks of the first incremental backup after resizing as iSCSI disks. In Windows Disk Management check the iSCSI mounted virtual disks are in the offline state, change to offline if they in the online state. Use Hyper-V Manager to create a new virtual hard disk and specify the mounted iSCSI disk as the source to copy from. Hyper-V Manager will create a VHDX from the iSCSI disk of the backup. Another alternative is to backup the guest immediately after resizing and before no changes made to the data in the guest; subsequent backups will restore with the correct size.
