Error description
A snapdiff backup for a volume on a Cluster mode Netapp filer might stop with the message : ANS5250E An unexpected error was encountered. TSM function name : baPerformSnapDiff TSM function : Invalid CIFS share - not a NetApp share or full volume. TSM return code : 115 TSM file : backsnap.cpp (5581) Mounting a c-mode volume to a junction point named /vol will cause the problem. This often happens when migrating 7-mode volumes to c-mode (/vol is the default builtin name space volumes are mounted under in c-mode) In such a scenario, the volume name used in the backup command is not a full volume. The volume is a full volume if it is mounted or mapped to the root of the volume. To check this, use the Netapp Filer GUI and check that the volume has a namespace corresponding to the volume name used in the backup command and that it is mapped to the root volume. Problem conclusion
The code has been changed so that the client will correctly process c-mode volumes with manually added /vol prefix to the junction-path. For this purpose the new testflag called SNAPDIFFCMODEVOLPREFIX was added. The flag is specified in the client options file (dsm.opt) as follows: TESTFLAGS SNAPDIFFCMODEVOLPREFIX
Temporary fix
An interim fix is currently targeted for version 7.1.4.1. Note that until the interim fix is actually available, this information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
