Error description

  • The ending stats do not reflect an encrypted VM backup, for
-mode=FULL or INCR , processing only.
Problem: After a successful VMware virtual machine backup, using
    Tivoli
Storage manager encryption, the ending stats do not reflect the
    VM backup
    was encrypted.
Note: Encryption is only supported for -mode=FULL/INCR
    Recreate steps:
    - Add the following lines to the options file
    include.encrypt *
    encryptkey generate
    - Run a virtual machine backup using -mode=full or -mode=incr.
The ending stats will show the following:
Total number of objects encrypted: 0
The only mechanism to verify that encryption was used is to
run a client trace during the backup.
    Initial impact: medium
    Platforms affected: Windows/Linux.
    Versions affected: 6.3, 6.4, 7.1

  • A fix for this problem is currently targeted for Tivoli Storage
Manager Client interim fix package 7.1.4.1

Note1: Until a Data Protection for VMware packaged fix of a
