Error description

  • A WebSphere MQ queue manager which has been migrated from
    version 7.0.1.x to version 7.1 (or later version) fails to start
    after migration. A Failure Data Capture (FDC) file is generated
    with probe ID HL048036
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users migrating a queue manager from MQ 7.0.1 to MQ 7.1 or
    higher MQ versions.
    
    
    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    This  issue occurred because of a difference  between MQ 7.0.1
    and later MQ versions
    in determining how to account for a partially used log page when
    calculating internal checksums.
    
    This difference could cause the log page integrity check
    routines to incorrectly detect valid log pages as invalid if the
    pages were partially used. If log pages were incorrectly
    detected as invalid, the queue manager failed to start.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ log page integrity check routines have been modified to
    correct these pages being incorrectly marked invalid.
