IT11215: SFTP ISSUE PASSING CERTAIN NON-ALPHANUMERIC CHARACTERS IN PASSWORD

Error description

  • Affected are users who try to send an SFTP request with a
    password containing certain non-alphanumeric characters such as
    but not limited to  the characters # and =
    Customers observing this issue may see symptoms such as the
    following in the logs:
    Thu Oct 21 2015 10:00:07 [0x80e005c7][ssh][info]
    mpgw(SAMPLE-SSH):
    gtid(XXXXX): SSH client: command-line line 0: garbage at end of
    line; "$".
    

Local fix

  • Use passwords without special characters
    

Problem summary

  • Affected is use of SFTP or SSH.
    
    User who uses special characters such as Number(#) or Equal(=)
    in password for SFTP or SSH connection may see the error
    'garbage at end of line'.
