Error description

  • File Restore user with a user name or password encoded in DBCS,
    such as Chinese or Japanese will not work. The initial login to
    the File Restore portal will report that the user cannot be
    authenticated.

    * prerequisite to using the Data Protection for VMware. In     *
    * Data Protection for VMware environments, the TSM Client is   *
    * also known as the data mover.                                *

    If user attempts to log into File Restore with a user and/or
    password that us using characters other then English,
    Authentication will fail, and the user would not be allowed to
    proceed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Update client to Tivoli Storage Manager Client on Windows 7.1.4/
    Data Protection for VMware 7.1.4
    

Temporary fix

  • - originally a temporary fix was targeted but 7.1.3.2 does
    not contain the fix. Upgrade to 7.1.4 instead.
