Error description
Applications using the Spectrum Protect API 7.1.3 that run as daemons may fail to operate after some days of normal operation. Symptoms may be different. For example Spectrum Protect for ERP fails with errors like: ANS1035S (RC406) Options file '*' could not be found, or it cannot be read. Cannot open ADSM API message text file. BKI4008E: File '/usr/sap/H1D/SYS/global/hdb/opt/hdbconfig/initH1D.bki' cannot be opened. Reason: errno(24) Too many open files
Local fix
The problem affects a process that is running as daemon. Once the process gets restarted everything works fine for a couple of days. Then the problem happens again and can be fixed by a restart of the process. In case of Spectrum Protect for ERP the 'prole' process needs to be killed. It will restart automatically.

Temporary fix
A fix for this problem is currently targeted for interim fix package 7.1.3.1. Until the interim fix is actually available this information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
