APAR status

Error description

• If specifying VMPROCESSVMWITHINDEPENDENT, VMPROCESSVMWITHPRDM or
  VMSKIPMAXVMDKS options with a YES value the result of an entire
   scheduled event is RC=8 despite a successful backup.
  
  There are distinct messages that appear when using the options
  above during a VM backup, as described below:
  
  When backing up a VM that contains an independent disk with the
  VMPROCESSVMWITHINDEPENDENT option enabled, the following warning
  message will be displayed:
  
  When backing up a pRDM VMDK with the VMPROCESSVMWITHPRD option
  enabled, the following warning message will appear:
  ANS1774W The virtual machine 'VM-name' contains one or more
  physical Raw Device Mappings (RDM) disks and these disks are
  excluded from the VM backup.
  
  When the VMSKIPMAXVMDKS option is enabled, the following message
  will appear:
  ANS2236I The virtual machine 'VM-name' contains one or more
  disks that exceed the maximum size limit. These disks will be
  excluded from the backup.
  
  Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
  6.3, 6.4, 7.1 on Windows and Linux operating systems

Local fix

• If the TSM backup archive client is at or above version 7.1.2.2,
   then the VMDK that requires the use of these options can be
  excluded using the EXCLUDE.VMDISK option, example:
  EXCLUDE.VMDISK "VM_NAME" "Hard Disk #"
  
  This will exclude the VMDK from the backup and a warning message
  will not generate during the scheduled event.
