Error description

• Tivoli Storage Manager 7.1.2 client does not provide pre-built
  Filepath packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
  When running on RHEL 5 and attempting to upgrade from 7.1.1
  client to 7.1.2 the following symptoms are seen when attempting
  to install the TIVsm-filepath package:
  rpm -ivh TIVsm-filepath-7.1.2-0-rhel64.x86_64.rpm
  error: Failed dependencies:
   rpmlib(FileDigests) <= 4.6.0-1 is needed by
     TIVsm-filepath-7.1.2-0.x86_64
   rpmlib(PayloadIsXz) <= 5.2-1 is needed byby
     TIVsm-filepath-7.1.2-0.x86_64
  
  The error occurs because
  TIVsm-filepath-7.1.2-0-rhel64.x86_64.rpm is intended for
  use on RHEL 6.4.
  7.1.1 provides RHEL 5.9 and RHEL 6.4 packages:
    TIVsm-filepath-7.1.1-0-rhel59.x86_64.rpm
    TIVsm-filepath-7.1.1-0-rhel64.x86_64.rpm
  7.1.2 provides RHEL 6.4 and RHEL 7 packages:
    TIVsm-filepath-7.1.2-0-rhel64.x86_64.rpm
    TIVsm-filepath-7.1.2-0-rhel7.x86_64.rpm
  Pre-built Filepath packages for RHEL 5 should be provided
  for installation.

Local fix

• The Linux Filepath kernel module is licensed pursuant to the
  terms of the GNU General Public License ("GPL").  Request the
  Linux Filepath source code by sending an email to
  tsmosreq@us.ibm.com.  After receiving the source code, build
  Filepath for the system using the instructions provided with
  the source code.

Problem conclusion

• Tivoli Storage Manager for UNIX and Linux Backup-Archive Clients
  Installation and User's Guide has been updated to mention that:
  1) Pre-built filepath packages for RHEL 5 are provided on Linux
  x86_64 and PPC platforms;
  2) The filepath source code is provided on all Linux platforms
  to build the Linux filepath kernel modules for the Linux
  distributions which don't have pre-built filepath packages.
  Tivoli Storage Manager client distrubution tar balls have been
  updated appropriately.
