Error description
The Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client for Microsoft Windows version 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 installers might report that a reboot is required to complete the installation when a reboot is not truly necessary. The problem occurs due to a change made in the installer that checks whether there are any pending file rename operations that require a reboot, regardless of whether the affected files are related to Tivoli Storage Manager. Pending file renames appear in registry value "PendingFileRenameOperations" located in registry key: "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager". This problem can occur during any install, upgrade, or remove operation that involves the 7.1.1 or 7.1.2 client. Customer/L2 Diagnostics Run this command from a Windows command prompt: reg query "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager" /v PendingFileRenameOperations Note that this is one long command even though it is shown on three lines in this APAR text. Make sure to put a blank space before and after the quoted registry key. If the registry key exists but contains no TSM related files then this APAR is the likely cause of the reboot prompt at the end of the installation. However the machine should be rebooted as soon as possible in order to resolve the pending file renames.
