Error description
Since client version 7.1.2, when performing a 'BACKUP VM' operation, the VMware guests placeholder names created by the VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) feature are skipped from the VM backups by design. The message seen in the client is : ANS2398I The virtual machine 'VM-name' is configured as a VMware Site Recovery Manager placeholder virtual machine on the recovery site. As a result, the virtual machine will be skipped. However, this triggers the backup statistics to be non-zero '0'. Since skipping these placeholders is introduced by design in the backup process, skipping these objects should not generate a warning. Example of backup statistics seen in the server summary_extended table: START_TIME: 2015-06-06 08:30:26.000000 END_TIME: 2015-06-06 08:32:15.000000 ACTIVITY: BACKUP ACTIVITY_DETAILS: VMware ACTIVITY_TYPE: Incremental Forever - Incremental NUMBER: xxxx ENTITY: DATAMOVER_NODE AS_ENTITY: DATACENTER_NODE SUB_ENTITY: VM_PLACEHOLDER_NAME COMMMETH: Tcp/Ip ADDRESS: <hostaddress>:<port> SCHEDULE_NAME: SCHEDULE_NAME EXAMINED: 1 AFFECTED: 0 FAILED: 1 BYTES: xxxxx IDLE: 0 MEDIAW: 0 PROCESSES: 0 COMPLETION_CODE: 6582 SUCCESSFUL: NO VOLUME_NAME: DRIVE_NAME: LIBRARY_NAME: LAST_USE: COMM_WAIT: 0 NUM_OFFSITE_VOLS: In case of a VMware placeholder that is skipped on purpose, the value of the 'FAILED' field should be '0'.
