Error description

• The restore of a Tivoli Storage Manager for Virtual
  Environments: Data Protection for VMware application aware VSS
  snapshot image using Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases: Data
  Protection for  Microsoft SQL Server could fail reporting the
  following errors in the dsmerror.log file of the datamover:
  
  ANS9892E (RC974)  Unable to find snapshot(s) in the local
  repository.
  ACO5060E A Tivoli Storage Manager API error has occurred.
  
  
  The problem will only occur when restoring a snapshot backed up
  with  Tivoli Storage Manager for Virtual Environments: Data
  Protection for VMware version 7.1.1 Data Mover (also known as
  the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client 7.1.1) or
  earlier using a higher V.R.M level of the software (7.1.2).

Local fix

• Upgrade the Datamover and Data Protection for VMware to version
  7.1.2 and do a full vm backup with "vmtsmvss" enabled.
  Then restore the snapshot again.Though this allows to do new
  backups and restore form them, the backups that has been taken
  with 7.1.1 are still not restorable.

  Downgrade Data Protection For Microsoft SQL Server , Data
  Protection for VMware(Recovery Agent) and the Backup/Archive
  client to the version by which backups have been taken

Problem conclusion

• The Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client on Windows has
  been updated to correctly support restore of Microsoft SQL
  Server databases from VM snapshots created using Tivoli Storage
  Manager for Virtual Environments: Data Protection for VMware
  7.1.1 which is then used in conjunction with Tivoli Storage
  Manager for Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server
  and Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft SQL Server.
