Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: This issue affects all users of the WebSphere MQ v7.0.4.4 File Transfer Edition (FTE) embedded agent that uses the IBM MQ v8 Java client. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The WebSphere MQ v7.0.4.4 File Transfer Edition (FTE) embedded agent, upon startup, attempted to ascertain the exact product versions of the IBM MQ Java client code in use for communication with an IBM MQ queue manager. This information should have then been logged to the embedded agent's log file. However, an issue existed in the IBM MQ classes for Java such that the embedded agent was unable to query this information correctly. This resulted in the embedded agent failing to start, which in turned caused IBM Integration Bus v9.0.0.3 to throw the following exception: 'java.lang.NullPointerException'; thrown from class name: 'com.ibm.broker.nodes.filenodes.ManagedFileInputNode', method name: 'getNextLocalFile', file: 'ManagedFileInputNode.java', line: '122'
Problem conclusion
The IBM MQ classes for Java have been updated such that the WebSphere MQ v7.0.4.4 File Transfer Edition embedded agent can successfully query the level of IBM MQ Java client code that is available in the IBM Integration Bus execution group environment in which it is running. A code change has also been made to the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition Embedded Agent such that, if the IBM MQ Java client code cannot be queried from the environment, the Embedded Agent can still start. In this scenario, the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition Embedded Agent will report blank version information for the IBM MQ Java client. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v7.0 7.0.4.6 v8.0 8.0.0.3 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
