Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    This issue affects users of:

    - WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition V7.0.4
    - The WebSphere MQ V7.5 Managed File Transfer component

who have managed transfers that move small files from a Source
    Agent to a Destination Agent.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When a managed transfer contains a number of transfer items for
small files, the Source Agent will produce a checkpoint at the
end of the transfer that has "File index . File position .",
where "File index " is the number of the last transfer item in
the managed transfer, and "File position" is the number of bytes
    that have been transferred.

If the Source Agent's queue manager failed just after the
checkpoint was written, but there were no errors on the
Destination Agent (for example, it was connected to a different
queue manager that was still running) and the transfer was in
the running state, then on queue manager recovery the Source
Agent sent a "resynchronization" message to the Destination
Agent containing the the file index and file position mentioned
in the checkpoint record (to inform the Destination Agent to
resume the managed transfer from the position mentioned in the
    checkpoint).

When the Destination Agent received the "resynchronization"
message, it checked the state of the managed transfer and
determined that it was still running. However, the Destination
Agent did not have a checkpoint for it, so was unable to resume
the transfer from the checkpoint mentioned in the
"resynchronization" message. As a result of this, the
    Destination Agent wrote the error:

BFGCH0027I: An internal error has occurred. The command message
has been discarded because 'BFGCH0066E: An internal error has
occurred. An exception has been reported by the State Store.
The exception is BFGSS0018E: An internal error relating to
locating a checkpoint on the receiving agent has occurred.
Transfer ID . File index . File position .

to it's output0.log file and generated an FFDC containing the
    following information:

    Class: com.ibm.wmqfte.cmdhandler.impl.FTECommandThread
    Method: run
    Probe: FFDC_001
    Cause:
    com.ibm.wmqfte.cmdhandler.FTECommandHandlerErrorException:
BFGCH0066E: An internal error has occurred. An exception has
been reported by the State Store.
The exception is BFGSS0018E: An internal error relating to
locating a checkpoint on the receiving agent has occurred.
Transfer ID . File index . File position

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition and the WebSphere MQ V7.5
Managed File Transfer component have been updated so that if a
Destination Agent receives a "resynchronise" request for a
managed transfer, and it does not have a checkpoint for that
managed transfer, then the managed transfer will go into
    recovery.
