Error description
An incremental backup performed on a CSVFS volume can show some files backed up when they should not be. A client 'service' trace will show that the "File Security CRC" attribute changed since last backup but might not be true. This problem happens because the buffer used to track CRC data is filled with random data and thus the Tivoli Storage Manager backup/archive client believes there is in fact a change in the 'File Security CRC' attribute. Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 6.3 , 6.4 , 7.1 on Windows platform using CSVFS volumes Initial Impact: Medium Additional Keywords: TSM GetFileSecurityInfo GetKernelObjectSecurity GetKernelObjectSecurity Cluster shared volume
Local fix
Use the following option in dsm.opt file: testflag secinfosize:1 This option may force an initial FULL incremental backup run but the next run should be a true incremental backup.

Problem conclusion
TSM client doesn't support backup and archive of the objects on Cluster Shared Volume File System (CSVFS). The client code has been modified so backup, archive, backup image operation of objects on CSVFS will fail. Despite the fact that CSVFS is not supported, user can restore/retrieve data that were backed up/archived by previous version of the client. Note that this restriction doesn't concern Hyper-V virtual machines that locate on the CSVFS.
