IT08313: ACO5424 CONNECTION FAILURE TO SQL SERVER DEFAULT INSTANCE WHEN THE TCP/IP PORT FOR THE SQL SERVER IS NOT THE DEFAULT

Error description

• After applying the fix for IT03972, the connection issue still
  exists during backup and restore operations using the Tivoli
  Storage Manager for Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL
  Server MCC GUI, i.e.,  it is not possible to connect to the
  default SQL Server Instance that is using a non-default tcpip
  port.  The following error is seen in the Data Protection for
  SQL log:

  ACO5424E Could not connect to SQL server; SQL server returned:
  Failed to connect to server <ServerName>.
  A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while
  establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not
  found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is
  correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote
  connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could
  not open a connection to SQL Server)
  The system cannot find the file specified (HRESULT:0x80131501)
  .
  This only affects the default SQL Server instance, the SQL
  Server named instance works correctly.

Local fix

• 1) Use the default port 1433 for the default SQL Server
  instance.
  or
  2) Use the tdpsqlc commandline interface with the port
  specification for the SQL Server, for example:
       tdpsqlc q sql /sqlserver=sqlservername,1234
    Where "1234" is the tcpip port that the SQL Server is using.

• Tivoli Storage  FlashCopy Manager for  Microsoft SQL Server and

  Microsoft SQL Server  have been updated to handle the use of
  non-default TCP/IP port numbers defined for the Microsoft SQL
  server instance on backup restore operations.
