Error description

  • A WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT) Web Agent reports all
files within a managed transfer request as being transferred to
the same file space, even if multiple different file spaces are
specified for different files within the XML request message.

For example, consider a managed transfer request that transfers
two files ("file1.txt" and "file2.txt") to a Web Agent for later
access via the Web Gateway. The managed transfer request
specifies that file1.txt should be transferred first to a file
space with name "file_space_1", followed by the transfer of
    file2.txt to a file space named "file_space_2".

In this case, the files are correctly transferred to the
specified file spaces, however, the Web Gateway reports that
both files exist in the last file space used, "file_space_2" in
this example. When the Web Gateway JEE application then updates
its associated database, it persists an entry stating that both
files that were transferred are stored in the same file spaces,
    "file_space_2", which is incorrect.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects all users of the WebSphere MQ Managed File
Transfer Web Agent and Web Gateway functionality who specifying
multiple files to transfer within a single managed transfer
request where two or more different file spaces are used.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
After a WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT) Web Agent
completes a transfer for which it was acting as the destination
agent, it notifies the WebSphere MQ MFT Web Gateway that new
files are available on disk that can be made available to web
users to perform an action, for example available to download
and delete. The agent does this by putting a message to the
    queue:

      SYSTEM.FTE.WEB.

on the Web Agent's agent queue manager.

When the Web Agent code constructed the XML message put to the
SYSTEM.FTE.WEB. queue, it incorrectly used file space used for
the last file in the transfer as the file space name for all
files in the managed transfer request.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer Web Agent code has been
updated such that, when notifying the Web Gateway of available
files that have just been written, the XML notification message
    published to the queue:

        SYSTEM.FTE.WEB.

specifies the corresponding file space name for each of the
    files within the managed transfer.
