APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After migrating from an earlier version of WebSphere MQ (MQ 7.5
    and below) to IBM
MQ v8 in a Microsoft Cluster (MSCS) environment, bringing the MQ
resource online in the cluster fails with following error:

An error occurred while attempting to bring the resource
     'xxxx' online.
ErrorCode: 0x8007007e The specified module could not be found.

Local fix

  • Copy the amqmclrn.dll file from the MQ bin64 (default path
    C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere MQ\bin64) directory to the
    bin (default path C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere MQ\bin)
    directory.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The queue manager resource fails to come online after migrating
MQ from any older version to v8. After migration the new
location of the MSCS resource library (amqmclrn.dll) is
    C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere MQ\bin64. However, when MQ
resource type was originally registered with MSCS the location
of the MQ resource dll was C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere
MQ\bin. Hence, the cluster resource monitor process tries to
load the MQ library from its original location and fails.

This problem will not occur if the user un-registers and
re-registers the MQ library by running the 'haregtyp' command
    after migration.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is fixed by shipping a copy of the amqmclrn library
    in the MQ bin directory.
