Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This APAR affects all users of WebSphere MQ Managed File
Transfer v 7.5 and v 8.0 who use a Protocol Bridge Agent as the
    destination agent.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The user had a heavily loaded FTP server attached to a Protocol
    Bridge Agent.

Occasionally, the Protocol Bridge Agent reported the following
    error:
BFGIO0106E: File "CUSTOMER_INBOUND:/out" is not a normal file
    (it might be a directory).

The agent was attempting to obtain a list of filenames to
    process when this issue occurred.

The underlying problems that caused this exception message were
transient errors returned by the FTP server due to the load that
it was experiencing. The product code elected to continue
processing when it experienced one of these underlying errors,
resulting in an error message that did not reflect the original
    underlying issue.

Problem conclusion

  • The product code has been modified to catch these transient
errors, produce an exception containing the details of these
errors and retry the transfer that was in progress when they
    occurred.
