APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• During the restore of a VMware virtual machine, the restore
  might display the following message:
  
  ANS9365E VMware vStorage API error for virtual machine 'vmname'.
     TSM function name : CreateVM_USCORETask
     TSM file          : vmvisdk.cpp (5259)
     API return code   : 57
     API error message : A specified parameter was not correct.
  config.extraConfig["guestinfo.vf.ws.clientLicenseState"]
  
  and will be unsuccessful if the client version is lower than
  6.4.2.0.
  If the client version is above 6.4.2.0, the restore continues
  resulting in a target VM guest with minimal configuration
  settings.
  This means the configuration of the VM guest will have to be
  edited to match the previous settings (assigned memory amount,
  network settings, etc.) or adapted to the current needs.
  
  Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
  Tivoli Storage Manager clients 6.3, 6.4 and 7.1 on Windows and
  Linux.

Local fix

• For clients at a version lower than 6.4.2.0, a restore to the
  minimal configuration can be forced by adding the following line
  in the dsm.opt file of the datamover node :
  testflag VMRESTORE_MIN_CONFIG

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed and no longer occurs.
  

Temporary fix

• A fix for this problem is currently targeted for Tivoli Storage
  Manager Client on Windows for interim fix package 6.3.2.4
  
  Note1: Until a Data Protection for VMware packaged fix of a
  fixing Tivoli Storage Manager Client level is available, Data
  Protection for VMware customers can install an use a fixed level
  of the the Tivoli Storage Manager Client in their environment.
  
  Note 2: This is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
