IT04882: MQ 8.0 DMPMQMSG UTILITY IN SOME CASES IS NOT COPYING MESSAGES FROM QUEUE WHEN USING THE -I INPUT FLAG

Error description

• The MQ 8.0 dmpmqmsg utility in some cases is not copying
  the message data from a queue when using the -i input flag:
  
   dmpmqmsg -m QMGR -i Q1 -f /tmp/Q1.out
  
  The output file contains the message header but not the message
  contents.
  
  Additionally, on some platforms, for example Solaris SPARC, a
  core file may be generated if the -d A display option is used
  with dmpmqmsg. A stack dump of the core file will show the
  failing function to be WriteFileMessageText.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The dmpmqmsg command has a -i option which should dump the
  contents of a queue to a file. This defect prevented the message
  data of messages on the queue from being dumped.
  

Problem conclusion

• A coding error was fixed where the input/output variable
  representing the message length that was passed to an MQGET was
  of the wrong type. This meant that on big-endian systems the
  returned length was incorrect.
