Error description

  • When using Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases, Data Protection
for Microsoft SQL Server commandline or GUI to restore an
AlwaysOn Availability Group database with more than 1 stripe
(backup was performed with stripes greater than 1), the
following errors are seen in the Data Protection for Microsoft
    SQL Server log:
ACO0005E Out of memory. Stop other processes and try the
       operation again.
     ACO5436E A failure occurred on stripe number (1), rc = 102
ANS0221E (RC2014) There was an error in the TSM API internals.
ACO5060E A Tivoli Storage Manager API error has occurred.
ACO0151E Errors occurred while processing the request.
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement
      or batch.
Read on "TDPSQL-000098AD-0000" failed: 1003(Cannot complete
      this function.)
A nonrecoverable I/O error occurred on file
      "TDPSQL-000098AD-0001:"
995(The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a
thread exit or an application request.).
The Windows Application Event log will show the error for the
    SQLVDI:
     SQLVDI: Loc=SignalAbort. Desc=Client initiates abort.
      ErrorCode=(0).
The SQL Server will have an Error: 18210, Severity: 16, State: 1
Note that even though a memory error is shown for the failure,
the machine is not out of memory, the error message is
    incorrect.
This problem only affects the AlwaysOn Availability Database
Restores, and does not affect other stand-alone SQL databases.
     Versions Affected:
Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager, 3.2, and 4.1
Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases: Data Protection for
Microsoft SQL Server 6.4.x and 7.1.x

    Initial Impact: High
    Additional Keywords: TSM TDP FCM

Local fix

  • Set the STRIPES option to 1 for any Availability AlwaysOn
    restores.
Using Stripes=1 works successfully for the restore, regardless
of how many stripes were used for the backup.
