APAR status

Error description

  • Customer receives large file using Connect:Direct Server
    adapter. The file is written to a shared network drive.
    Receiving works fine, but the file
    closing takes several minutes, which leads to a timeout on the
    connection. This leads to a resend and to duplicate files.

    Problem Description:
    When the document directory is mapped to a to a shared network
    drive, and the CDSA is receiving a very large file, closing it
    can take several minutes.  This can lead to a timeout at the
    remote CD node. The time leads to a resend and to duplicate
    files.

Problem conclusion

  • Resolution Summary:
    CDSA now supports synchronous writes when writing to file
    system-backed documents. This behavior becomes the new default
    to prevent checkpoint restart inconsistencies (data
    loss or corruption) in the event the system suddenly goes down
    with buffered data uncommitted to the file system.  The new
    behavior commits payload data to the file system during each
    write operation. The new behavior may be disabled by specifying
    buffered.file.writes=yes (cdinterop.properties).
