Error description

  • Extended Attributes, ACLs, or Alternate
Data Streams, not be restored for zero length files
    when TSM compression is used.

The restore will not report any warnings or error messages.

This applies to Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, and Mac OS X
    HPUX is not affected.

For Mac, HFS+ compressed file data is stored as Extended
Attributes. Beginning with Mac OS X 10.9, the files and
applications provided by Apple are compressed files. Restoring
these files will remove their content and render them useless.

The problem was introduced by the fix for IC93914 which added
a check for the file size before committing previously
compressed data to disk. If the size is zero, the expanded
    data is dicarded

Problem conclusion

  • The fix for IC93914 was converted to use testflag
DISCARDZEROFILEDATA to discard expanded data found
    during the restore.

Temporary fix

  • Apply temporary fix level when available. This
temporary fix is currently projected to be
    available in level 7.1.0.3.
Note that until these level(s) are available,
this information is subject to change at
    the discretion of IBM.
Fixed in 6.3.2.3 (AIX, HP, Linux, Mac) and 6.3.2.4 (Windows)
