APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When the Tivoli Storage Manager baclient is installed to a non
  default location, the following error is reported in the error
  log although the backup does complete:
  ANS9488E Java Runtime Environment (JRE) was not found. File
  D:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient\jvm70500\jre\bin\javaw.exe
  does not exist.
  Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
  The backup is successful, but will return rc = 12.  A service
  trace of the backup will show the following:

  The implementation of checking for the location of Java to use
  did not take into account that 'shortnames' may be disabled
  on the drive where TSM is installed.
  

Problem conclusion

• TSM Client was updated to work properly when TSM is installed
  on a drive where 'shortnames' are disabled.
  

Temporary fix

• Apply fixing level when available.  This
  problem is currently projected to be fixed
  in level 7.1.0.3.  Note that
  until these levels are available,
  this information is subject to change at
  the discretion of IBM.
