IO29434: DGL0818A ERROR WHEN EXPORTING ITEM TYPE WITH MAX/MIN VALUES FOR CHAR/VARCHAR ATTRIBUTES.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The CM Export/Import function does not properly handle Max/Min
  values for Char/VarChar Attributes in item type after enable
  these two fields in CM87.
  

Local fix

• As a workaround, we open the Item Type being exported and just
  set the min & max characters of the attribute again on the Item
  Type. The export then completes without error.
  

Problem summary

•  After upgrading Content Manager Enterprise
  Edition to version 8.7 fix pack 1, using the Content
  Manager system administration client to export an item type
  which was created using earlier versions of Content Manager,
  then importing the item type definition to a Content Manager
  8.7 fix pack 1 environment using the "Directly to another
  server" option causes the error "DGL0818A The attribute, %1
  of string type has no constraint regarding the attribute
  length." Item types created before version 8.7 fix pack 1 had
  no constraint for those attribute types.
  

Problem conclusion

•  Problem resolved in Content Manager version
  8.7 fix pack 4.
