Error description
The SMP/E Receive Order command receives an ABENDD23 RC0002 ( RC02 ) indicating a WTO error. The failing SVC23 (WTO) is being issued from module GIMSGWTR at X'11A8' at level UO01434. PE Information: Users Affected: User's of the SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER command and users specifying the 'DATE=REPLY' parameter on the EXEC statement for the SMP/E module GIMSMP. User Impact: SMP/E PTF UO01422 provides support for z/OSMF Software Deployment V2R1, but it introduced a new problem. PTF UO01422 converted several existing modules to be REENTRANT, but neglected to modify the processing of WTO and WTOR messages to be REENTRANT. WTO messages GIM693I and GIM694I are issued during SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER processing when SMP/E has to wait more than 15 minutes for an order to complete. GIM693 - SMP/E HAS BEEN WAITING xx MINUTES FOR ORDER xxxxxxxxxx. SMP/E WILL WAIT A MAXIMUM OF xx MINUTES. GIM694 - SMP/E HAS WAITED xx MINUTES FOR ORDER xxxxxxxxxx AND WILL CONTINUE TO WAIT BECAUSE NOLIMIT WAS SPECIFIED. WTOR message GIM399I is issued when a user specifies the 'DATE=REPLY' parameter on the EXEC statement for the SMP/E module GIMSMP. GIM399I - ENTER THE JULIAN DATE (YYDDD) OR "U". After PTF UO01422 is installed, some customers experience a D23 abend when a WTO/WTOR message is issued, while others simply do not see the WTO/WTOR message. In the case where a D23 abend occurs, SMP/E processing fails. In the case where the WTO/WTOR message does not appear, SMP/E processing continues with no ill affects. However, since a WTOR message requires a response from the user, a missing WTOR message is a problem. Local Fix: Install fixing PTF UO01463 (APAR AO18034). PTF UO01463 provides the proper REENTRANT code for issuing WTO and WTOR messages.

However, certain macro calls (WTO and WTOR) within module GIMSGWTR were not modified to work in a REENTRANT environment.
