IO17785: LOGO/DBCS FONT UTILITY MENUS HAVE INCOMPLETE LIST OF PRINTERS

Error description

  • The 4690 "LOGO/DBCS Font Utility" can be used to down-load DBCS
fonts into a printer.The "Download a DBCS font file to
specific terminal POS devices" menu currently lists only two
printers:
"1. Model 4A"
"2. 4610-TI5"
Fonts have been successfully loaded to a 4610-1NR printer using
option 2. Hardware level 2 indicates that this should also work
for 1CR, 2CR and 2NR printers. Menu should include these
printers or be worded in a manner that will cover them.

Problem summary


    

  • The 4690 "LOGO/DBCS Font Utility" menu can be used to download
DBCS fonts into a printer.  The "Download a DBCS font file to
specific terminal POS devices" menu currently lists the option
"2. 4610-TI5".  According with L2 and the 4690 Test team, fonts
have been successfully loaded to a 4610-1NR printer using
option 2.  Hardware level 2 indicates that this should also
work for 1CR, 2CR and 2NR printers. The menu should include
these printers or be worded in a manner that will cover them.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Menu Option 2 "Download a DBCS font file to specific terminal
POS devices" menu will be changed to "4610 DBCS Printers" to
keep it generic.  The documentation for each individual printer
would state if it supports DBCS.
