Error description

  • WEBI only supports a defined set of national languages. Using an
unsupported language locale in the browser settings will lead
into a crash of the WEBI server when a user tries to logon.

Local fix

  • N/A

Problem summary

  • The language settings of the Content Manager OnDemand Web
Enablement Kit (ODWEK) are determined by the language settings
of the first client that connects to that instance of the
Content Manager OnDemand server. If the first user who logs in
to the server logs in with an unsupported locale setting in
their browser, the language of ODWEK is set to the unsupported
locale. When the next user logs in with a different locale,
ODWEK stops working and causes IBM WEBi to stop working too.

Problem conclusion

  • IBM WEBi now checks whether ODWEK is properly initialized before
allowing users to log in to the Content Manager OnDemand server.
If ODWEK is not initialized, users with unsupported locales are
prevented from logging in to the Content Manager OnDemand
server, which prevents the language settings of ODWEK from being
set to an unsupported language. ODWEK is initialized when a user
with a supported locale logs in. After a user with a supported
locale setting in their browser logs in, both users with
supported locales and users with unsupported locales can log in
to the server. However, when users with unsupported locales log
in, they will see Content Manager OnDemand and ODWEK messages in
the language to which ODWEK is set.
