IO08014: WHEN VIEWING A FILE IN WORD, IF THE USER DECEIDES TO ADD THE ITEM THEY ARE PRESENTED WITH A DIALOG THE ITEM IS CHECKED OUT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When Viewing a file in MS Word, if the user deceides to add the
  item they are presented with a dialog stating the document is
  checked out.
  
  Steps to reproduce.
  1. Make sure Word has a DM Menu command for Add document.
  2. Make sure DM Desktop is integrated with Word.
  3. Make sure the Desktop Template for the test user is
  configured to use MS Word for viewing DOC files and not the DM
  Viewer.
  4. Select a DOC file from the Dm Desktop and choose View.
  5. Once the item is open, click the Add Document menu command.
  6. Error message is displayed to the user "The document is
  currently checked out.  Would you like to add a copy of this
  document to the library?"
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Microsoft Word users prevented from adding documents while
  viewing
  When viewing a document in Microsoft Word, users trying to add
  the document could not do so (they received an incorrect message
  that the document was checked out).
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix is available in DB2 Document Manager v8.3 Fix Pack 8 and
  in v8.4 Fix Pack 1.
