IO07986: UNABLE TO PERFORM A SEARCH, USING A SEARCH TEMPLATE, WHEN THE ATTRIBUTE VALUE IS BLANK AND THE OPERATOR IS =.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Unable to perform a search when the attribute value is blank and
  the operator is =.
  
     1. Edit a search template so that at least 1 attribute has a
  control type of edit.
     2. From the DM Desktop open the search dialog.
     3. Change all the operator's to ignore except the test
  attribute, set that to =
     4. Click the search button, nothing happens.
     5. In the attribute value field enter <blank> then click the
  search button.  This works
  
  Users should be able to search for blank values by leaving the
  value field blank and NOT be required to enter anything else.
  

Local fix

• Enter <Blank> in the attribute value.
  

Problem summary

• Users could not search on an empty attribute value
  Users could not search for items that contained an empty
  attribute (an attribute with no value entered). They can now
  select a new operator, "Is Empty".
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix is available in DB2 Document Manager v8.3 Fix Pack 8 and
  in v8.4 Fix Pack 1.
