IO05756: DM INTEGRATION WITH OUTLOOK XP OR 2003 BREAKS MACROS, SECURITY, & VISUAL BASIC EDITOR IF OUTLOOK IS STARTED FIRST.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If you start Outlook and the Document Manager Desktop is not
  started, even if you choose "yes" when Outlook prompts to start
  the DM Desktop, the following Outlook Menu options are broken if
  you start Outlook first:
    Tools -> Macro -> Macros
    Tools -> Macro -> Security
    Tools -> Macro -> Visual Basic Editor
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  
  1) Make sure DM is integrated with Outlook
  2) Launch Outlook
  3) Click Yes or No at the prompt to "Use with DM" (it fails
     both ways)
  4) In Outlook click on these menus and they will NOT open.
         Tools - Macro - Macros
                         Security
                         Visual Basic Editor
  
  Now to make it work. close everything.
  1) Launch DM
  2) Log In
  3) Launch Outlook.
  4) Answer Yes or No at the prompt to "Use with DM"
  5) In Outlook click on these menus and they WILL open.
         Tools - Macro - Macros
                         Security
                         Visual Basic Editor
  

Local fix

• The workaround is to be sure to always start the DM Desktop
  first.
  

Problem summary

• Outlook menus disappeared
  Some Microsoft Outlook menus (Tools -> Macro -> Macros,
  Security, and Visual Basic Editor) failed to appear when users
  started Outlook before they started Document Manager.
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix is available in DB2 Document Manager v8.3 Fix Pack 8 and
  in v8.4 Fix Pack 1.
