APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • viosupgrade from latest 3.1.4.x to 4.1.2.x,
    now migrates security configurations.
    
    That involves migration of custom users.
    
    But post upgrade these users are not able to login
    

Local fix

  • pwdadm -c <username>
    

Problem summary

  • non-root users have to reset password after upgrading to new
    vios level or after restoring backup which is unexpected.
    

Problem conclusion

  • non-root users will now be able to login with thier old
    password as of backup. Also the non-root user may get back its
    old userid.
