APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • On VIO servers the wtmp file is cleared for unknown
reasons.
This is due to the following line in padmin .profile file
:
ioscli cleanios
So each time the .profile is run a cleanios is run that
might empty wtmp if wtmp is greater than 10 Mb.
That must be changed to :
alias cleanios="ioscli cleanios"

Local fix

  • Manually change the line in /home/padmin/.profile

Problem summary

  • When padmin user logs in, 'cleanios' is run every time.
This is not intended.

Problem conclusion

  • Correct padmin .profile to create alias instead of executing
cleanios on login.
